This isn't necessarily something that relates to our industry, our technology, or organization, but it is truly inspirational.
In a recent Wired article, the story of Mike Schultz's rise above the adversity of a catastrophic accident is recounted. A professional extreme athlete, Mike lost his leg below the knee in a "job related" accident while racing. But this did not deter him for a moment, seeking out the aid of his associates, he built himself a new leg and is once again achieving medal winning performances.
Where many would likely see an immovable object in the path of their life, he saw a challenge to be overcome. Now, aside from being a world class athlete, he is also the founder of a company developing advanced prosthetics.
This is the future in action, and a prime example of channeling technology to meet goals rather than accepting the status quo of what was offered. An achievement worthy of great admiration.
